SOHO LOFT
SoHo, Manhattan, NYC
Architect | Alexander Stoltz of SA-DA Architects
Description:
This 2,400 SF SoHo coop renovation includes a penthouse enlargement and roof terrace addition. The loft pairs a brick envelope with a restrained, minimalist interior and sculptural furnishings, anchored by suspended FireOrb fireplaces in both the living space and covered courtyard.
Goal:
The objective was to articulate the relationship between loft interior, covered courtyard, and roof terrace, while highlighting the project’s connection to the SoHo skyline.
Approach:
With full control of the space, I was able to arrange furnishings to create stronger, more intentional compositions. The open-air courtyard allowed for split-level views that situate the roof deck within the city skyline, while careful exposure control balanced interior detail with exterior light, particularly at sunset.
