Description:
This house in Hillsdale was designed to frame sweeping views of the Catskill and Adirondacks Mountains.
Goal:
Capturing the relationship between the home and those expansive views was essential to honoring the architects’ intent.
Approach:
Photographing interiors that feature outdoor vistas presents a technical challenge, requiring careful light balancing to render both spaces naturally and beautifully. I balanced the strong winter daylight with interior lighting and blended exposures to preserve detail on both sides of the glass. I also stayed overnight to capture the property at dawn, trekking out in snowshoes to photograph the home in context and document its relationship to the surrounding landscape.
